A pledge to wear no makeup this rainy summer | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

WE’VE ALL heard of New Year’s resolutions, but have you ever heard of one for summer?

If the prospect of making a change for the post holiday season is hardly any motivation, maybe the idea of bettering yourself  for the beach will be a more convincing argument.

It doesn’t have to be an ulcer inducing diet or a killer exercise regimen. It can be something as simple as pledging not to wear makeup this summer. I know, I know. This phrase may win you the next beauty pageant, but it will never get you to convince another  woman to leave home without makeup.

Research shows that a good number of women never leave the house without applying some form of cosmetic. Women use makeup as a tool to boost their confidence and as a way to make themselves feel fashionable and youthful. It’s no surprise that the cosmetic brands’ profits are at a record high.

If you wear makeup every day and would be embarrassed to go to the office with no makeup on—I have a challenge for you. Use one less product and get used to seeing your new bare face in the mirror. Try skipping the mascara, or use a lip balm instead of lipstick. Do it for a week, or a month, but take it one step at a time.

Give your pores a break from the mass of makeup you wore at the beginning of the year. You’ll find that it’s a fresh change that’s perfect for this hot and humid month.

To aid in your path to becoming au naturel, try these clarifying and cleansing products for the face or body:

One of the biggest beauty booms you will see in 2011 is a turn toward natural products.

Leading the pack to making a positive splash on the environment is The Body Shop’s Earth Lovers.  These shower gels hold the new eco-conscious label, promising to “Protect the Planet.”

Its six variants feature blends of herb and fruit extracts plus Community Fair Trade aloe vera to leave your skin naturally fragranced and super soft. It’s also 100-percent biodegradable. Each variant costs P595.

This summer, a lack of hydration is a key contributor to an overall dull look. That’s why we beauty advisers always remind you to moisturize, moisturize and moisturize.  Without proper hydration, surface cells actually become more opaque, creating a look that lacks a healthy vibrance and clarity.

This new product from Estée Lauder counteracts dehydration by rebalancing and maintaining optimal moisture levels. The new CyberWhite Brilliant Cells Full Spectrum Brightening Moisture Crème reveals fresher, fairer, brighter cells. It was carefully developed and created for delicate Asian skin and tested in Asia. The formula is extremely effective yet gentle, so skin is left with a natural, radiant transparency. You’ll  spend about P3,600 a jar, to  have that “inner light.”

Before moisturizing, an important part of your weekly skin routine should be exfoliation.

Facial scrubs work to manually remove dead skin and can give your face a soft, healthy glow. But be sure not to overscrub, because it can also make your face raw. Facial scrubs should be done only twice a week to exfoliate the dull scaly cells on your skin’s surface.

The latest in exfoliation technology is StriVectin-SD. StriVectin Instant Retexturizing Scrub removes surface impurities and dry skin cells to promote greater luminosity, smoothing of rough areas and improvements in skin texture and tone.

You can see results in your mirror immediately and over time. It works like an exfoliating scrub that cleanses and instantly retexturizes skin, priming it for maximum absorption of treatment products such as wrinkle cream, face serums and moisturizers.  It’s P818 for a .75-oz tube.

Remember, there’s nothing wrong with makeup. What’s wrong is when you need to use it to feel right, to feel like yourself.  Cameron Diaz said it best: “[Beauty] is a kind of radiance. People who possess a true inner beauty, their eyes are a little brighter, their skin a little more dewy. They vibrate at a different frequency.”

So let’s pledge to go bare this summer, and give your inner beauty a fair chance.

Beach babe and Miss Philippines-Earth 2009  Sandra Seifert, shares her pledge to wear less.

“Summer is the perfect excuse to refrain from wearing all that makeup and opt for the less-is-more look. To help me achieve this, my ultimate favorite products this summer include:

Natural Sea Beauty Mineral Body Butter,  which contains Dead Sea ingredients and is the perfect Moisturizer for both Face and Body.

Smashbox’s O-Glow Cheek Tint,  because it’s all about Blush this summer  and this  Golgi berry-containing cream is very convenient to apply when you’re on the go.

DuWop’s Strawberry Kiwi Lip Balm which gives you the perfect balance between a balm and gloss.

Wearing less make up also makes me feel more confident each time I step into the sun my Solara swimsuits, exclusively designed and available at www.solaraswimwear.com, and  www.facebook.com/

solaraswimwear.”
