MANILA, Philippines—Newly-crowned Miss World Megan Young is coming home next week.

She is expected to arrive in Manila on Thursday, said Miss World Philippines director Cory Quirino in a radio report.

Fresh from the Miss World residence in London, a victory motorcade for Young will be held on Ayala Avenue in the business district of Makati City on Friday afternoon.

The 23-year-old beauty queen posted on Twitter (@meganbata) her much-awaited homecoming.

She tweeted on Saturday night, “had the chance to be on BBC earlier and was interviewed by @LucyHockingsBBC :) also, coming home next week!”

Quirino also urged the people angered over the racist remarks by Singaporean Devina DeDiva to just “forgive her.”

Days after crowning Young as the first Filipina Miss World, DeDiva criticized her victory, describing the Philippines as a country of maids.

Young bested 128 beauty queens from around the world to become the first Filipina to win the coveted title in a contest broadcast to more than 180 countries worldwide.
