9 Works Theatrical’s ‘Grease,’ RCBC Theater, until Dec. 1

 

TV AND STAGE star Gian Magdangal is Danny Zuko and singer-actress Frencheska Farr is Sandy Dumbrowski in 9 Works Theatrical’s latest offering, “Grease.”

 

Directed by Robbie Zialcita, “Grease”—with book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey—also stars Iya Villania, Rafa Siguion-Reyna, Jennifer Blair-Blanco and Carla Dunareanu.

Bit by Bit Company’s ‘Maxie The Musicale,’ Peta Theater Center, until Dec. 8

 

BIT BY BIT Company presents “Maxie The Musicale,” an adaptation of the hit Cinemalaya film “Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros.”

 

Book and lyrics are by Palanca Hall of Fame awardee Nicolas Pichay based on the original screenplay by Michiko Yamamoto; music by William Elvin Manzano, Janine Santos and JJ Valiente Pimpinio; and direction and choreography by Dexter Martinez Santos.

Atlantis Productions’ ‘The Addams Family,’ Meralco Theater, until Dec. 1

 

ATLANTIS Productions’ “The Addams Family” stars film, TV and stage personalities Eula Valdes and Arnell Ignacio as Morticia and Gomez Addams, respectively.

 

“The Addams Family” is a smash-hit Broadway musical comedy created by “Jersey Boys” authors Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, and Drama Desk-winning composer-lyricist Andrew Lippa.

 

K-La Rivera also joins the cast as Wednesday Addams. Bobby Garcia directs.

Repertory Philippines’ ‘The Producers,’ Onstage Greenbelt 1, until Dec. 15

 

REPERTORY Philippines brings to Manila Mel Brooks’ blockbuster musical comedy “The Producers.”

 

The local production, which runs until Dec. 15 at Onstage Greenbelt, will be directed by Jaime del Mundo, with Carlo Orosa and Robie Zialcita alternating as Max Bialystock, and Topper Fabregas as Leo Bloom.

Gantimpala Theater’s ‘Katipunan: Mga Anak  ng Bayan,’ AFP Theater, Nov. 20-22

 

GANTIMPALA Theater presents the musical version of Bonifacio Ilagan’s “Katipunan: Mga Anak ng Bayan,” directed by Joel Lamangan, with music by RJ Jimenez and lyrics by Ilagan and Jeffrey Camañag.

 

The cast includes Sandino Martin as Bonifacio, Anna Fegi and Rita de Guzman as Bonifacio’s wife Gregoria “Oryang” de Jesus.

 

It runs Nov. 20-22 at AFP Theater, Quezon City; Nov. 29 at Bonifacio High Street Open Field, Makati City; and Nov. 30 at Taguig University. It tours Cavite City on Dec. 7 at Montano Hall.

Dulaang UP’s ‘Teatro Porvenir,’ Guerrero Theater, Nov. 20-Dec. 8

 

DULAANG UP marks the Bonifacio sesquicentennial by staging Tim Dacanay’s 2006 Palanca Award-winning play “Teatro Porvenir: Ang Katangi-tanging Kasaysayan ni Andres Bonifacio, Macario Sakay at Aurelio Tolentino sa Entablado,” under Alexander Cortez’s direction.

 

The production, which runs Nov. 20-Dec. 8 at Wilfrido Guerrero Theater, 2/F, Palma Hall, University of the Philippines, Quezon City, stars Romnick Sarmenta and Russell Legaspi as Bonifacio, with Jean Judith Javier, Karen Guerlan and Emerald Bañares alternating as Gregoria de Jesus.

Tanghalang Pilipino’s  ‘San Andres B,’ CCP Little Theater, Nov. 29-Dec. 8

 

“SAN ANDRES B,” a new opera in Filipino by Chino Toledo with libretto by National Artist for Literature Virgilio Almario, will be staged by Tanghalang Pilipino under Floy Quintos’ direction.

 

Playing Bonifacio is tenor Dondi Ong, with soprano Margarita Rocco as Gregoria de Jesus.

 

“San Andres B” runs Nov. 29-Dec. 8 at Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino, Cultural Center of the Philippines.
