FRESH Apple Juice
FRESH Apple Juice

With apples being affordable and plentiful in the market, there’s no excuse not to make fresh apple juice.

Unlike its commercially bottled version, freshly-made apple juice is much tastier and more refreshing. And since this has no preservative, you’ll feel better drinking it and serving it to your kids.

You don’t even need an electric juicer to make your own apple juice. An electric blender will do. Serve this on Christmas or New Year’s Day—or during any of your get-together events. It’s so good you’ll surely get lots of compliments.

Fresh Apple Juice

  • 2  apples, preferably Delicious or Fuji variety
  • 2 ½  c cold water
  • ½-1  c sugar, or to taste
  • Crushed ice or ice cubes

Peel the apples and cut them into wedges or large cubes. Place the apples in a blender, then pour one cup of the cold water. Process until the apples liquify. Pour in the remaining water as well as the sugar and ice, and process again until well-blended. If desired, or if the mixture looks too thick, add more water.

Pour into a pitcher and serve over more ice (if desired). Makes 3-4 servings.

Note: For a bigger batch, make another recipe, as above, then pour into the same pitcher as the first batch. This will make 6-8 servings.

Cook’s tips:

You can stretch the number of servings by adding more water to the processed apples. However, the juice will be thinner and the taste of fresh apples will be less pronounced.

This is best served immediately. If serving at a later time, keep chilled in the refrigerator.

In some supermarkets, an apple costs between P18-P25 each. You can probably get them cheaper in places like Divisoria. However, if you buy the apples from a street vendor, make sure you wash them thoroughly and peel them well before using.
