FLORALS, sportswear, trippy graphics
FLORALS, sportswear, trippy graphics

This season is going to be all about cool street-to-sports style, trailer grunge and a rich anthology of “festivulture,” as Topman unveils its collection for Spring and Summer.

There is a new and fresher look to sportswear, with its clean/true trend. Fabrics are mixed, hinting on tried and tested performance and active wear with style. Seen are techniques involving cut-and-sew and color blocking combined with neons and brights, built on a base of scientific grays. This season’s take on sportswear is something more casual and enjoyable.

Key items this season are trainers and sportswear in vivid brilliant neons, balanced off with black silhouettes, all found in Topman’s techno-monochrome trend. The mix of sporty fabrics and sophisticated texture defines a look that is omnipresent in fashion as well as in art and in the street.

Grunge ’93 takes inspiration from ’90s grunge. This trend revels in vintage denim heritage, a thrift store palette, folk art and hand-me-down lumberjack shades. It tells a tough, über masculine story that revolves around gold glam and Midwest Seattle trailer trash, looking up to the tried and tested fashion sense of icons Kurt Cobain, David Grohl and Eddie Vedder.

Bumming at the beach this summer? Watch the skilled skateboarders, and listen to Nirvana and Swim Deep while bathed in style with Topman’s Beach grunge trend. The defiant nonconformist story is casual all throughout, interspersed with cherry reds and denim blues. Patterns are key. Stripes, tie-dye and florals are usually mixed and matched with anything ripped, torn or bleached.

The world tribe trend carries an intense, dazzling palette and crazy pattern and prints. The results are high-spirited and exuberant. Aside from all these, sublimation prints, jacquards, placements and all-over prints make way for a bold story.

The trippy graphics and artificial colors celebrate the Internet generation showcased in the hyper culture trend. It nods to the style of modern-day techno-cowboys, with references to the late ’90s and the millennium. To make their own acid story, sportswear bathes in eye-popping colors, and hypnotic prints are key.

Blissed out pastel shades meet cool street wear in Call, a trend with a West Coast surf theme. With inspirations more from the ’80s than the ’60s, this laid-back leisurewear blends effortlessly with bold patterns.

Topman’s spring-summer 2014 collection is all about  fashionable urban men who wander in bohemian and sophisticated circles to best enjoy this hot, laidback season.

Topman stores are  at Robinsons Galleria, Robnsons Magnolia, Robinsons Place Manila, Shangri-La Plaza East Wing, Power Plant Mall, Greenbelt 3, Alabang Town Center, Trinoma, The Podium, SM Aura Premier, SM Mall of Asia, Ayala Center Cebu and soon to open at Mega Fashion Hall.
