A modern-day gold rush is sweeping the metropolis, as people are rushing to the largest Samsung Experience Store for the launch of the much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S5 Gold.

Weighing a mere 145 g, GS5 boasts a matte, copper-gold perforated back cover with copper-gold metal trim around the edges. The black finish front set against the copper-gold trimming gives it a luxurious and elegant look.

The launch coincided with the opening of another gold mine, the 317-sq m Samsung Experience Store on the fourth level of SM Megamall B. It is the third Experience Store to open after those at the SM City North Edsa and SM Aura.

Performance-wise, the GS5 will not disappoint. Its 5.1” touchscreen display is super Amoled, with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to protect it against scratches. It features an Adapt Display, which automatically optimizes its screen to the lighting conditions the owner is in, according to saturation, color range and sharpness.

Its advanced Local Contrast Enhancement allows GS5 to adapt to various light conditions, so that, for example, the screen display will be optimized during bright situations, like direct sunlight.

SAMSUNG Galaxy series

“The Samsung S5 is the embodiment of the ultimate smart phone. Under its iconic design and stylish colors is a powerhouse of a combined working and vast-resistance body, optimized camera, fast network connectivity and an Ultra Power Saving Mode function,” says Chung Lyong Lee, managing director, Samsung Electronics Phils. Corp.

By Ultra Power Saving Mode, Lee means the GS5’s ability to extend its battery life for up to 12 days. Finally, a chance for consumers to ditch lugging around juice packs. This function, however, puts the screen in black-and-white mode, and automatically disables unnecessary features to minimize battery consumption.

Normal usage will give you 21 hours of talk time, less if you play video games, watch music videos and surf online.

Download Booster

One of the best features of the GS5 is the Download Booster, where the phone grants a network connection combining LTE and WiFi. This split download over the LTE and WiFi connections will reduce download and load time significantly. With Mimo or Multi-Input and Multi-Output (read: multiple connections), it can now also speed up your mobile network experience.

The GS5 is powered by 2G RAM built-in memory, 128G external memory, and LTE 2.5 GHz quad core application processor for lightning speed connection, and operates on its Android Kitkat OS. It’s slim, with a width measuring a svelte 8.1 mm, and is IP67-certified dust- and waterproof.

It also has a 16-megapixel camera (rear) and 2 megapixel wide-angle lens (front). It can focus in just 0.3 seconds, and also comes with a slow-motion function. Its HDR mode comes in handy during backlighted situations, allowing more light to enter the image’s foreground.

THE SAMSUNG Experience Store has well-trained and knowledgeable staff.

“Our mission at Samsung is to inspire the world and shape the future with transformative ideas and cutting-edge technologies,” says Lee. “One way to do that is to let our Filipino consumers get immersed in Samsung’s many innovations in our Samsung Experience Stores.”

The Samsung Experience Store in SM Megamall also has a customer service lounge that can comfortably sit up to 42 people, a training room good for 15 people, the biggest communication wall, the biggest concierge and the biggest kids’ zone table.

The store gives consumers an opportunity to test the units first before purchasing, or test the gadgets before deciding to switch. A well-trained and knowledgeable staff will assist customers.

Lee said consumers will experience firsthand products that “are designed to make their everyday lives a lot easier.”

There’s the Samsung Gear Fit, which includes fitness activity trackers that not only keep track of your activities and heart rate, but also feed you news from your social media circle, and receives e-mail, text messages and even calls.

The GS5 also comes with an S Health, a fitness tracker with pedometer, diet and exercise records. It has a built-in heart-rate monitor, measuring your heart rate by placing your index finger on the sensors to capture your pulse.

The Galaxy S5 now also comes in Electric Blue.
