The 1990S was a curious fashion decade with its schoolgirl skirts and rugged, torn jeans.

People don’t exactly say it was the most stylish decade (I think the ’60s still wins), but the ’90s was a strikingly memorable one. Revive this decade through film-inspired beauty looks courtesy of MAC Cosmetics’ latest collection, Moody Blooms:

“Clueless”: Pink Barbie

All of us who lived through the ’90s dreamed of rotating closets. This pop teenage film tickled our eyes with wild prints (and hair) and bold colors, including pink lips.

To get the look, prep skin with foundation and trim eyebrows from underneath, giving them a slightly more slender shape. (But don’t overdo it!) Apply highlighter under the brows. Apply a peachy eye shadow like Moody Blooms Eye Shadow in Artistic License. Follow with a soft swipe of Moody Blooms Blush in Bred for Beauty on the apples of your cheeks. Finish with a loud pink lip color, like Moody Blooms Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Lust Extract.

The current interpretation isn’t as Barbie doll as the past decade’s, so tone down the look by dabbing the color carefully on the middle of the top and lower lips, and spreading outward with your thumb to create a washed-out version.

“There’s Something about Mary”: Girl-next-door

Recreate Mary Jensen’s all-American look with a fresh face, a subtle smoky eye brushed around the crease (the collection’s eye shadow in Hidden Motive) and a berry-hued lip tint like Lipglass in Blushing Berry.

“Girl Interrupted”: Grunge

Grunge, my favorite among the three looks, has never really died. Play around the eyes with cool colors like Blooming Mad. Line the eyes with a pot liner like Moody Blooms’ Black Ivy and finish with a soft dab of Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Venomous Violet. Darken the hue to go from grunge to goth. Just don’t do it in the daytime.
