Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila reopens its grand ballroom this September.

General manager Adam Laker said the Grand Plaza Ballroom’s luxurious transformation “will launch a new chapter and reconfirm our reputation as the preferred destination for meetings, milestones and grand events” since it first opened in 1976.

Laker noted that aside from the grand ballroom, the renovation included nine meeting rooms, along with the spectacular new winding staircase that is expected to draw selfie fanatics who come to Sofitel for their “magnifique events.”

He added that the hotel is now gearing for important national events like the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in 2015 and its own 50th anniversary.

Sofitel’s grand ballroom provides a one-of-a-kind view of Manila Bay that can also be enjoyed by its iconic poolside and lush gardens.

The original ballroom was a collaborative work between National Artist Leandro Locsin and Dale Keller.

The renovation meanwhile involved acclaimed architecture and interior design firm A. Ilustre and Associates.

Bound to be a favorite setting for special moments on camera is the grand 180-degree winding steel staircase leading up to a second level lit by a seven-tiered crystal lighting fixture.

Designed to dramatically welcome guests, this ideal backdrop features intertwined patterns in matte gold finish with black Marquina granite inspired by French vineyards.
