AT G2000, they’re offering an additional 10-percent off already discounted clothing.

While 20-percent off might be the standard in store discounts, bargain hunters lie in wait for discounts upward of 50 percent.

At Robinsons Department Stores’ Red Hot Sale which runs until the end of the month, shoppers can look forward to discounts of up to 70 percent in participating stores. This is the fourth time in four years the mall chain is holding its month-long Red Hot Sale. All 37 Robinsons Malls are participating until Aug. 31.

Earlier this month, Inquirer Lifestyle headed to Robinsons Galleria to check out the selection. The Ortigas mall, the flagship mall of Robinsons Land Corp., has five levels of over 500 local and international shops, dining outlets and service centers.

At Basic House, the Korean brand was selling men’s colored cotton chinos at half of the original price of P1,980. At P990 a pair, the pants can give users the chance to inject some color into their wardrobe.

At G2000, separates and dresses were on sale by as much as 70 percent, with additional 10-percent off the sale price. Sleeveless cotton shells in bright jewel tones originally at P1,580 were now tagged at P499. With the additional 10-percent discount, each tank retails for around P450. Worn under a jacket, they provided a pop of color.

It became obvious as we went around the mall that shopping is really a woman’s realm. Photographer Alanah Torralba quickly spotted dresses with details like scalloped lace trim or “sewn on” bling at half off or a third of their original price at Dorothy Perkins. At Warehouse, she zeroed in on short punchy dresses originally priced at over P5,000 but now tagged at P1,499.

At The Face Shop, the skincare and cosmetic brand from Korea, an entire shelf was filled with “1+1” or buy one, take one items. One of its most popular products, a BB cream with a vibrating puff applicator, was down to the last few pieces. There were still ample supplies of facial cleansing products including an emulsifying oil, an oil to foam unit and a massage cream. This writer quickly scooped up the oil to foam cleanser and a cucumber massage cream.

Inside the Robinsons Department Store, not all the items are on sale but it should take the seasoned bargain hunter only a few minutes to scan the merchandise and zero in on what she wants—houseware, kitchenware or children’s apparel.

It’s important to remember, however, that even if an item is on sale, you have to ask yourself whether or not it’s your style, and if you actually need it. If the answer is a resounding yes, then claim your prize, bargain hunter.
