Gonzalez is a “doctor architect” at the Universidad de Sevilla, Spain. He is part of a research team studying the Spanish urban colonial heritage in former Spanish territories in Africa: Morocco (including Tetuan), Western Sahara, Equatorial Guinea and Sidi Ifni.

This part of Hispanic heritage is often overlooked. The research looks into the planning of communities, including mass housing in the African territories. The research considers ethnographic conditions of the area with contemporary international architectural trends in the last part of the 19th and early part of the 20th centuries.

The team is open to research links with the Philippines. This season, Gonzalez is taking advantage of his being a visiting professor at Tongji University, Shanghai to come to the Philippines.

The UST presentation will be in English.
