A hotel restaurant isn’t your usual go-to place when you want to enjoy a hearty, healthy and affordable meal. But in Flavors at Holiday Inn and Suites Makati, you can have just that in a cozy setting.

For the entire month of October, and in line with Vegetarian Awareness Month, Flavors is offering meatless fare which includes spring onion pancake, vegetable kare-kare and vegetable paella, among others.

“With our meatless mains, we try to introduce possibilities that you can do with vegetables that are appetizing and savory,” Holiday Inn and Suites Makati director of public relations Teri Flores said. “We also incorporated vegetables in some of our desserts, such as the sweet potato cake, pumpkin cake and carrot cake.”

One might expect highfalutin food at Flavors, which is ideally situated in the heart of Makati’s shopping district and has a connected passageway to Glorietta. On the contrary, these

dishes take a backseat to comfort food. You can even customize your pasta and soup.

No frills

Flores said that when the hotel opened in April last year, management knew it had to attract people who wanted to have a no-frills dining experience.

“We envision Flavors not as a hotel buffet restaurant that competes with all the deluxe hotels, but as an option for mall-goers and families who want to relax over a good meal and celebrate occasions without the frills,” she said.

And while starting prices at hotel restaurants in this part of the metro would often be at P2,000 per person, at Flavors one can enjoy good food for P1,300+ per head.

“We are aware that we cannot compete with the other hotels in terms of the variety of food,” Flores said. “What we do is try to manage cost in such a way that even those who do not plan to dine in a hotel buffet can just go on a whim to Flavors and have lunch or dinner.”

Flavors’ floor-to-ceiling windows allow its guests to have a bright and comfortable dining experience. It also has an al fresco dining area with a “resort feel.”

“It’s Holiday Inn’s mandate that we give our guests a comfortable stay; that they feel relaxed and at home. That’s what the Flavors vibe is all about—a perfect place for casual dining with friends and family.”
