The much-awaited annual Classical Christmas Concert of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) will be held at the Santisimo Rosario Church on Dec. 3 and 4.

The concert will feature top talents from the UST Conservatory of Music such as the UST Symphony Orchestra, Liturgikon Vocal Ensemble, Coro Tomasino and Brass Choir.

Also performing are bassist Jun Francis Jaranilla; sopranos Naomi Sison, Jade Riccio, Jasmine Salvo and Charlene Ramos; tenors Ronan Ferrer, Lemuel de la Cruz, Eugene de los Santos and Raymund Muyot; organist Armando Salarza; and student soloist Kathleen Sunga.

Frederick Maturan, the grandson of famous balladeer Diomedes Maturan, will also be making his debut.

Conducting the UST Symphony Orchestra are master conductors Michael Jacinto, Ronan Ferrer and Herminigildo Ranera.

To be opened by a brass Christmas fanfare, the concert will feature Venezuela’s premier local a cappella band XCOR La Banda Vocal de Venezuela.

 

Leading the playing of the carillon bells in front of the UST Santisimo Rosario Church to formally open the Pontifical university’s Christmas season will be UST Rector Fr. Herminio Dagohoy.

The event, chaired by UST Museum Director Fr. Isidro C. Abaño will conclude in a community singing of popular Filipino Christmas songs.
