In her new Babes line, Katrina Goulbourn draws inspiration from the Nutcracker ballet suite

 

One of designer Katrina Goulbourn’s fond childhood memories is watching the “dreamy” Christmas story of the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker ballet suite.

 

So she made the charming story and its characters her inspiration for her Babes christening gown line.

 

Her latest baptismal gowns are romantic and appropriate for the holiday season.

 

They are soft and willowy layered gowns using tulle, silk organza, with delicate embroidery and ribbons and lace.

 

For the bolder little soldiers, the gowns are elegant in silk taffetas, with pom-poms or ribbon trim, and for the more adorned, a little damask for dramatic effect.

 

Katrina Goulbourn Babes items will make heirloom pieces that must be kept for the next generations.

 

Goulbourn is inspired by anything, from cultural heritage to art, architecture and history. She explores different looks that are individual but are classic.

 

She uses a wide color palette to evoke unique feelings for very special occasions.
