This year’s edition of Art Fair Philippines will feature new art by Roberto Feleo and include participants from around the region.

As in the two previous years, the art fair will be held at The Link, the car-park building in Ayala Center.

A total of 33 galleries, eight of them based outside the Philippines, will occupy two levels of the car park from Feb. 5 to 8.

Feleo, a professor and mentor to a generation of artists, will exhibit six pieces on the Basi Revolt of 1807. The revolt which started in the town of Piddig in Ilocos Norte was set off when the Spanish prohibited the production of sugarcane wine (basi).

Organizers of the event said at the launch that they were fortunate to get Feleo to participate in this year’s fair as the artist has not exhibited new works for some time. His pieces will occupy the central exhibit space on the sixth level of The Link.

A portion of the seventh floor, meanwhile, will highlight pieces by Poklong Anading, Annie Cabigting, Buen Calubayan, Mariano Ching and Yasmin Sison, Kawayan de Guia, Alfredo Esquillo Jr., Geraldine Javier, and Maria Taniguchi. These special exhibits will consist of works conceptualized for Art Fair Philippines 2015.

Christie’s will run the art fair’s lecture series, Christie’s Art Forum. The participating galleries this year are: 1335 Mabini, Altromondo, Archivo (See related story on Page C4.), Arndt, Art Cube, Artesan, Art Informal, Art Verite, Avellana Art Gallery, Blanc, Boston Gallery, CANVAS, Crucible, Edouard Malingue Gallery, Equator Art Projects, Finale Art File, Galleria Duemila, Galerie Michael Janssen, J Studio, MO, Nova Gallery, Nunu Fine Art, Pablo, Paseo Gallery, ROH Projects, Salcedo Private View, Secret Fresh, Silverlens, TAKSU, The Drawing Room, Tin-Aw Art Gallery, Vinyl on Vinyl and West Gallery.
