Much has changed at Loewe, the centuries-old Madrid luxury brand favored by the Spanish royal family, ever since the appointment of Irish designer J.W. Anderson as its creative director in 2013.

 

With the 30-year-old Anderson at the helm, Loewe had a major transformation—he updated the storied fashion house with a more modern design philosophy by creating a genderless ready-to-wear collection in similar color palettes.

 

But while Anderson’s appointment by LVMH, which owns Loewe, was to refocus on the brand’s apparel, fans of their bags will not be disappointed with his first bag designed for the brand, the Puzzle bag. The multidimensional bag is big, bold, and comes in several colors.

 

It has an innovative cuboid, origami-like shape that allows it to be folded flat.

 

Mirroring the brand’s various elements that make up the landscape of the brand today, the Puzzle appears to be composed of geometric fragments of leather that have been sliced and repositioned.  The new bag’s cuts determine how it folds while strategic exterior seams dictate its modern shape, making it wearable in different ways.

 

Instead of saying, “look at me,” the bag’s design somehow says – “interact with me.” Change and play with my shape from three-dimensional and fold me inward. Sling me over your shoulder and take me on whatever journeys lie ahead.

 

The bag can be carried the usual way with its top handle, over the shoulder using the leather sling, like a backpack with the attached shoulder strap, as a crossbody bag, or when folded flat, as a clutch.

 

The Puzzle bag is available in two sizes and a range of colors, leathers and skins including the brand’s signature Oro suede.
