MANILA, Philippines – A woman from Cavite province who has dedicated half of her life educating kids is poised to become an entrepreneur after she took home the over P33-million jackpot prize of the Mega Lotto 6/45.

The 69-year-old retired public school teacher is the recent lotto player to join the millionaires’ circle when she correctly guessed the winning combination 04-05-13-16-30-39 in the April 17 draw.

Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Vice Chair and General Manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas II said the winner was the sole player who guessed the winning numbers. She won exactly P33,446,892.

When she claimed her prize at the agency’s head office in Mandaluyong City on Monday, the winner told Rojas that she and her husband would use the prize money to put up a grocery store.

The winner, the eldest in a brood of eight, also said that she would share part of her winnings to help improve the lives of her siblings. She and her husband didn’t have children.

Rojas said that the winner, who spent 35 years in the academe, would also donate a portion of her winnings to various charities.

The woman, who has been a retiree for four years now, told Rojas that she had been playing the lottery for the last 15 years before she hit the jackpot. She added that she got her winning numbers from the birth dates and ages of her family members and only bought a single ticket.
