Joy Rojas ll has successfully gathered several well-known artists, some of them members of the Saturday Group, for the exhibit, “Art for a Cause,” on May 2-6, at LRI Art Gallery (210 Nicanor Garcia St. [formerly Reposo], Bel Air 2, Makati City), and on May 8-22 at the Medical City lobby, Ortigas Avenue, Pasig City.

 

“Art for a Cause” will benefit the Medical City Liver Center headed by Dr. Vanessa de Villa, specifically indigents waiting for liver transplants.

 

Top artist Lydia Velasco leads the Saturday Group members in the exhibit with her unique portrayals of everyday women projecting their inner strengths. Multitalented writer, painter and businessperson Migs Villanueva, Saturday Group president, meanwhile exhibits her famous naïf art portraying children with no noses and only dots for eyes.

 

Anna de Leon is represented by her mixed-media surrealist works with ever-present images of eggs, feathers and birds as well as blue strings and aluminum wire.

 

Buddy Ching and Buds Convocar also contribute their works to the exhibit.

 

Other top artists in the exhibit are Hermes Alegre, Roel Obemio, Omi Reyes, Aner Sebastian, Francis Nacion, Jaime Gubaton and Gerrico Blanco.

 

Still other top artists are Norlie Meimban, Carlo Magno and Ross Capili.

 

Rounding of the exhibit are Metrobank Art and Design Excellence winners Jonathan Dangue (2011 and 2012) and Herbert Pajarito (2013).

 

Dangue is an architect, sculptor and painter, contributing his attractive lit-up brass free-form sculptures that can double as table lamp. Pajarito is an abstract painter.

 

Guest artist is photographer Mandy Navasero, who will present her portfolio featuring the islands of Batanes.

 

Other artists include Arlyn de la Cruz and Glory Abueva.

 

The exhibit is organized lawyer, art patron and artist Rojas, who will contribute his digital “Horseshoe” series and eight pieces of ethnic tribal abstractions.
