How to keep your neck looking young | Lifestyle.INQ

When you are in your 20s or 30s, it might seem unimportant to take extra care of your neck, but this is, in fact, the best time to start. (thenletitbe.tumblr.com)

It’s a common misconception that a cohesive anti-aging routine involves caring for the face and eyes—and those areas only.

A good skincare regimen works to keep you looking young, and this entails extra attention around your neck and chest. An unsightly décolletage can be embarrassing, which most of us (both men and women) would like to avoid. Yes, the turkey neck happens to men, too. So guys, listen up.

Prevention is key in delaying the course of aging. When you are in your 20s or 30s, it might seem unimportant to take extra care of your neck, but this is, in fact, the best time to start.

Sunscreen

I can’t emphasize enough the importance of slathering yourself with a sunscreen that contains at least an SPF 30. Make sure to rub some on your neck as well to prevent sunspots and wrinkles.

Most of us tend to neglect our necks when it comes to skincare, but the skin on the neck is so thin and delicate we must learn to make it a habit to place extra care on this area. Your neck is just as visible to the sun as your face, so it makes sense to religiously place sunblock on this area.

Lifestyle

Good skin is a reflection of a healthy lifestyle. Make it a point to be hydrated with water. Dry skin leads to aging and wrinkles.

Take a good fish-oil supplement that works to boost collagen production. Collagen keeps your skin firm and tight. Load up on antioxidants like berries and green tea (and some dark chocolate, too) to fight the free radicals you encounter in day-to-day activities.

Stop smoking, avoid heavy drinking, and sleep early. Exercise regularly.

Treatments

There are numerous treatments out there designed to tighten your neck, and these treatments work to boost collagen production in the treated area.

Ultrasound, radio frequency and laser light are different methods a lot of women use to keep their necks looking youthful.

Some resort to surgery to tighten the skin on the neck. All these treatments work, but I think the best course of action when it comes to anti-aging is prevention.

There are several good creams in the market designed to pamper your neck and chest. I like Perricone’s Neck Firming Cream because it contains phospholipids that repair, hydrate and calm dry/damaged skin.

This cream also contains vitamin E which works as an antioxidant, with a smoothing and firming peptide that prevents wrinkles and firm neck creases.

Clarins and Strivectin also carry creams specifically for the neck, and these products have garnered positive reviews as well.
