Water and wellness fused in Batis arts project | Lifestyle.INQ

The Philippines, as a country composed of several islands separated and surrounded by bodies of water, knows all too well the healing properties water provides.

It is this philosophy that guides some of the country’s most creative minds involved in Milrose Realty Development’s Corp.’s Batis Project.

Seen as the embodiment of a revolutionary vision that seeks to fuse arts and wellness in a community that is purely Filipino, the Batis Project brings together National Artists Benedicto “Bencab” Cabrera and Idelfonso “IP” Santos, architect Francisco “Bobby” Mañosa and Royal Pineda, potter Augusto “Ugu” Bigyan, fashion designer José “Pitoy” Moreno, interior designer Budji Layug, sculptor Michael Cacnio and furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue.

During a gathering at the Museo Walo, Insular Life Corporate Center in Alabang, MRDC president and CEO Ricky Ocampo said that the Batis Project aims to unite and uplift the standard of Filipino living to greater and unmatched heights.

Set to be constructed at the foothills of Mt. Makiling in Laguna, the Batis Project will allow guests to experience the healing properties of water coursing directly from the area’s natural hot springs. Museo Walo will also transfer here once completed.

“It is a development envisioned to be the preeminent wellness destination of the entire region,” Ocampo said.  “If the Romans have the bath, the Japanese have the onsen, the Philippines will finally have something to call its own.”
