Dads do more than bring home the bacon. They are also home-tenders.
Russ Alfonso, head of RS Concepts Inc., a media services company, makes sure to spend quality time with his teenaged kids, Anton and Kara.
He always tells them that there are no easy deals in life: “Everything is through the grace of God and hard work.”
For fathers or fathers-to-be, Russ has this advice: “Give your children a solid foundation through proper education and a Christ-centered orientation. Allow them to make mistakes because from there they will grow.”
He adds, with a laugh: “Make their boyfriend or girlfriend your friend on Facebook in case [your own kids] ‘unfriend’ you.”
Gary Jamora has 25 years of culinary and restaurant experience. He’s a busy man but tries his best to be a hands-on parent to Morgan Clarisse and Ferran Rafael: “I bring them to school, help in their Kumon, read books and shop for groceries with them.”
He also finds time to bond with them in their favorite activity, swimming.
His most cherished experience is when each learned to say “daddy” and started talking with him.
His family life formula? “Be devoted to your wife and kids, and put God at the center of your family.”
