It’s been a great weekend for tonkatsu lovers with Maisen finally opening its first Philippine store in Greenbelt 5. Two more stores are following—Megamall in two weeks and SM  North Edsa soon.

Maisen doesn’t just serve tonkatsu. Here’s a look at its menu:

Maisen’s Kurobuta sets (P590 to P630) are served with the special Kurobuta Sauce that’s loaded with freshly grated apples.

Katsu sets are served with rice, cabbage, pickle set, fruits and miso soup and can be enjoyed with sweet sauce, spicy sauce or spice salt (P350 to P400).

Not in the mood for pork? Try the seafood sets. Prices range from P370 to P595.

Or if you’re in the mood for both, get the Mixed Katsu Set (P495).

There are options for vegetarians and chicken fans too.

Choose from a variety of Donburi (P385 to P405).

Love Japanese curry? Here are your options (P350 to P495).

Enjoy tonkatsu in a unique way with the Katsumabushi set (P390).

The pork sukiyaki set (P520) also comes with tenderloin katsu.

Try Maisen’s sandwich sets too. The takeout boxes are pretty and convenient for lunch when you’re on the go.

There’s a kid’s set for your little ones: fried prawn, tenderloin katsu, chicken karaage, tenderloin katsu sandwich, fruits, Onigiri and apple juice (P330).

Don’t skip the sides.

You may also order katsu and other dishes a la carte P90 to P440.

 

You can wash down your meal with soda, juice, water, beer, whisky or sake.

 

And if you still have room for dessert, get some ice cream (vanilla, strawberry, chocolate) or the calamansi sorbet.
