The Henann Group has opened a new resort complex on Panglao Island, Bohol. Breaking records in the tourism and hotel industries, the resort’s 6.5-hectare property will initially operate 100 rooms. An additional 300 rooms are being built.

Henann Resort Alona Beach also includes a three-story, 2,160-square meter convention center that can accommodate 1,000 guests.

“We consider Henann Resort Alona Beach a milestone in our company’s 17-year history, as this is our first property outside Boracay,” says Henry O. Chusuey, chair of the Henann Group of Resorts. “It has always been my personal goal to expand nationwide.”

The Henann Group manages Boracay Regency Beach Resort and Spa (which will be renamed Henann Regency Beach Resort and Spa), Henann Garden Resort, Henann Lagoon Resort and four more newly acquired properties in Station 1, Boracay.

The new resort in Bohol boasts the longest and widest beachfront along Alona Beach—1.5 kilometers of pristine white sand overlooking picturesque rocky cliffs.

The water looks clearer and bluer than Boracay’s famous White Beach. Guests can enjoy true peace and solitude, since Alona Beach is not as commercialized as White Beach.

The vibe in Alona Beach is definitely more laid-back; no raucous parties or blaring music here. People travel to Alona to relax, get away from the noise of the city and spend quality time with friends and loved ones.

The resort complex is expansive. The hotel buildings form a U-shape around the swimming pools, giant Jacuzzis and sunken bars. We were not able to see its entirety since construction is still ongoing in the other buildings.

The rooms are coastal village-inspired, with modern interiors and wood accents—all sourced from local furniture manufacturers, says Henann Group marketing manager Karl Hendrik Chusuey.

All of the rooms have a private terrace, wireless Internet access, individually controlled air-conditioning, cable television, coffee- and tea-making facilities and a fridge.

The rooms are also equipped with a big flat-screen Sony TV—important for those whose idea of a good vacation is to laze around and be a couch potato, or read a book in bed.

And speaking of beds, the one in the room during our stay in the resort was one of the most comfortable we have slept in—a perfect blend of softness and firmness. We’d love to go back if only for that bed.

The premier rooms on the ground floor are all connected to the swimming pools. The connected pools form a sort of moat, with the hotel buildings as the castle.
