THE #2bUFaceOff fashion show brought out the best from four participating design schools—Slim’s Fashion and Arts School, De La Salle-College of St. Benilde, SoFA Design Institute and Fashion Institute of the Philippines.
Various versions of a gray updo complemented the collection by Slim’s.

When celebrated stylist Michael Salientes saw the collection, he quickly picked up the Victorian references in the students’ use of houndstooth and plaid fabrics, as well as corsets and petticoats in their designs.

Apparently inspired, he started pitching styling ideas on the spot to Slim’s codirector Mark Higgins.

Salientes generously offered to serve as the students’ consultant, providing ideas for their models’ hair and makeup in preparation for #2bUFaceOff.

He wanted a contemporary take on Victorian style; think steampunk, or hair from the movie “Sweeney Todd.”

To avoid a monotonous look, Salientes (with help from hair sponsor Salon Beauvoir) tweaked each model’s hair to suit their outfit.

“The result was an interesting look that didn’t detract from the clothes, yet enhanced the story of the collection,” said Slim’s codirector Sandy Higgins.
