Some places just seem to be built for family fun. Singapore is one of them—it’s clean, it’s safe, it’s near, it’s convenient, there are plenty of things to do and with its efficient public transport system, and it’s easy to navigate, even with all your kids in tow.

Where to stay

Festive Hotel at Resorts World Sentosa. This hotel was designed especially for families, with separate chambers for parents and loft beds for kids. Sofas can be flattened into beds for extra sleeping space. The hotel also features a kids’ arcade and family restaurants. Your kids will also appreciate the hotel’s proximity to Universal Studios.

Fun for mom

Visit Louis Vuitton Island. If mom is a fan of the brand, check out this luxury store, which also offers exhibitions and a book store.

Shop at ION Orchard. Don’t forget to pick up a discount passport and enjoy bargains from your favorite stores.

Get a spa treatment at Aramsa The Garden Spa (Bishan Park 2, 1382 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1). This spa asks you to answer a questionnaire before your treatment so they can make sure your rubdown suits your needs.

Fun for dad

If dad is a foodie, he will love Marina Bay Sands’ restaurant lineup. Seven celebrity chefs have made the entertainment destination their home in Singapore—Mario Batali (Pizzeria and Osteria Mozza); Daniel Boulud (db Bistro Moderne); Wolfgang Puck (CUT); Justin Quek (Sky on 57); Santi Santamaria (Santi); Guy Savoy (Guy Savoy); and Tetsuya Wakuda (Waku Ghin).

Check out the gadgets at Funan DigitaLife Mall. This place is famous for offering electronics at good prices.

Fun for the whole family

Spend a day at Universal Studios. This theme park offers seven zones including Madagascar and Far Far Away, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, The Lost World, New York and Hollywood. If your kids are crazy about roller coasters, let them ride the tallest pair of dueling roller coasters in the world. Enjoy the world’s first Madagascar theme park ride and the world’s first Far Far Away Castle (from the movie “Shrek”). Scream as you ride Revenge of the Mummy, the high-speed indoor roller coaster that plunges you into darkness.

Get on the Jurassic Park Rapids, watch WaterWorld, and interact with Donkey live. There are special Halloween nights from Oct. 27-29.

Transformers  The Ride is currently under construction and is set to open later this year.

Parents pay S$66 on weekdays and S$72 on weekends and school holidays, while kids pay S$48 on weekdays and S$52 on weekends and school holidays.

Senior citizens pay S$32 on weekdays and S$36 on weekends and school holiday. Two-day passes are also available.

Visit Marina Bay Sands’ ArtScience Museum. There are 21 galleries to explore—permanent exhibitions that showcase the power of creativity, an interactive gallery, multimedia galleries. The “Van Gogh” exhibit runs until Nov. 6. “Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition” opened Oct. 29. Ticket prices range from S$8-S$28.

Check out the view of the clouds from ION Sky. Head for the Behold eScopes—the first of its kind in Asia—and check out the surrounding landscape in real time with these interactive telescopes.

Visit the Maritime Experiental Museum and Aquarium at Resorts World. Marvel at the treasure ship, experience the Typhoon Theater, gawk at the Jewel of Muscat and learn about life at sea. Adults pay S$5 to enter, kids pay S$2. There’s an extra fee to get access to the Typhoon Theater (S$6 for adults, S$4 for kids).

Broadway favorite “Wicked” will kick off on Dec. 7. Tickets range from S$165-S$240.

Skate at the Marina Bay Sands’ skating rink located at the Canal Level near Rasapura Masters foodcourt. Adults pay S$7 an hour (S$5 for an extra hour) and S$3 for skate rental. Kids 12 years old and younger pay S$6 an hour (S$3 for an extra hour) and S$3 for skate rental.

Take a Sampan ride along the canal at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. Pay S$10 per person to ride these Chinese wooden boats.

Enjoy the Singapore River Cruise. Ticket prices start at S$4 and can be purchased from any Singapore River Cruise jetty.
