Is your ‘yaya’ prepared for an emergency? | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

A FEW days after Mawi Fojas de Ocampo experienced a crisis, she went into panic mode. In time, however, the crisis turned out to be a blessing—or a wake-up call for her new advocacy.

With a leap of faith, De Ocampo  launched Training Camps by MothersAtWorkHub, an offshoot of her blog, mothersatworkhub.org, conceived as a support system to help working moms walk their daily tightrope.

These training camps are primarily for caregivers, designed to help and empower the ever-busy and exhausted mom, so that while she’s away on a business trip, she has peace of mind, knowing that her caregiver is equipped to keep her babies safe.

With Pilipinas 911 as partner in these training programs, families can sign up for membership so that yaya will always have backup support at any time, and whenever needed, an ambulance will be available 24/7, as well.

De Ocampo says, “We hope that educational programs like these through Training Camps by MothersAtWorkHub, in partnership with Pilipinas 911’s Ruel Kapunan, will not just empower moms, but will help save lives, too. It’s awesome to be part of an endeavor like this. The possibility of teaching just one more caregiver who could save someone’s life is motivation enough for us to keep spreading the word.”

The first Training Camp by MothersAtWorkHub is on April 23, Saturday, 1-5 p.m., and will cover cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid, and Basic Life Support that will teach your caregiver how to correctly manage emergencies such as choking, burns and scrapes, and also teach her the basics like bandaging and splinting.

The training will cover earthquake preparedness and safety.

Lia Bernardo will host the Training Camps by MothersAtWorkHub in Alabang Hills at the SouLove Center, which is already home to a community of like-minded individuals  looking for activities that will help them move, learn and grow, like Nia, Bollywood dance, Yu Hezu Bamboo Wand, and various kinds of yoga (Gentle Flow, Power, Yin with Reiki Healing, Kundalini) as well as activities for kids like Kids’ Yoga, Yoga for Teens and The Beading Circle.
