Two Filipino champions who put the country on the world map and brought pride and honor to the country in two different arenas have crossed paths on Philippine soil.

 

Boxing champion Manny Pacquiao took to Facebook on Thursday to share a photo of him with reigning Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach at Novotel hotel in Quezon City, using the hashtag #proudtobepinoy.

 

The Sarangani representative, fresh from a homecoming motorcade from Makati City to Novotel, just returned to the country from Las Vegas after his victory against Timothy Bradley in what he said was his last fight.

Wurtzbach, meanwhile, is back in the Philippines to turn over her crown during the Binibining Pilipinas 2016 coronation night on Sunday. The Filipino beauty titleholder shared a photo of her on Twitter while getting ready for a photoshoot for the local pageant.

 

It can be recalled that when Pacquiao lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr. last year, Wurtzbach said on Twitter that she would avenge the boxer’s loss and vowed to bring home the Miss Universe crown.

 

“Kalma lang guys. Ako bahala. Babawi tayo sa Miss Universe!!!” she then wrote. YG/CDG
