More consumers demand sustainable brands | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

BUSINESSES are being challenged to adopt eco-friendly and sustainable practices, policies and strategies.

A conference to be held in Australia later this month will focus on the theory that brand longevity depends not just on profitability but on sustainability as well.

The Sydney conference is one of several scheduled activities that are part of the annual World Environment Day celebrated on June 5.

In a pre-conference press statement, organizers said that “the environmental and social impact of brands are being increasingly scrutinized by stakeholders, employees and, most importantly, consumers, and the demand for new products, services and business models that deliver both purpose and profit, is soaring.”

The conference recognizes that the “world has changed” and “innovative brand leaders with their focus on positive, sustainable outcomes will thrive, while those who fail to deliver will dive.”

Dr. Sally Uren, chief executive officer of Forum for the Future, says: “It’s critical to transform the key systems we rely on, and to do that, everyone in the value chain must be involved, from the producers and manufacturers right through the end-user, all working together toward a common aim.”

Uren, who will keynote the SB16 (Sustainable Brands) Sydney conference on June 27-29 in Sydney, Australia, works with both individual pioneering businesses and global collaborations to address system-wide sustainability challenges.

She says she will highlight key opportunities to achieve sustainability, as she called on “professionals from all industries including marketing, design, construction, architecture, finance, medicine, communication, technology and so many more to join us in shaping a more sustainable future.”

The Sustainable Brands initiative is described as “a global learning, collaboration and commerce community of forward thinking business and brand strategists, marketing innovators and sustainability professionals…”

SB16 Sydney’s agenda aims “to educate, inspire and motivate cross-sector industries on how to build, integrate and leverage sustainability into their brands.”
