PART of the opening ceremonies, a big Red Lion

“PAINT the town red” best describes the opening of Season 92 of the National Collegiate Athletic Assocation (NCAA), the country’s oldest collegiate league. San Beda College plays host school this year.

Held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, the event saw team muses sporting elaborate costumes, the host school’s Little Indians and San Beda Lion mascot in a spirited performance, and the solemn retirement ceremony of basketball legend and San Beda alumnus Carlos Loyzaga’s No. 14 jersey.
Fans also enjoyed the opening game, a repeat of last year’s finals between the San Beda and Letran. The Red Lions emerged victorious at 89-85.

Here are other highlights of the event.
