Super Foodie Picks

/ 04:16 AM October 30, 2016

Poblacion is our favorite corner of Makati. What’snot to love? Bright neon lights, expats and backpackers walking around, midget boxing, and cheap beer—a rarity in bars around Makati business district

  1. El Chupacabra

5782 Felipe St.

Top picks: Carne Asada street tacos, Super Pork BBQ Sticks and Horchata, a non-alcoholic Mexican rice milk drink. They sell cheap beer—San Mig Light and Pale are sold for P60, Cerveza Negra priced at P80. Cheese Burger Spring Rolls, Carne Asada Gringas, and Chili con Carne

and Tortilla Chips.

  1. Beni’s Falafel Venue Mall, Makati Avenue

Top picks: Get the falafel, of course! You can order the half dose with hummus, a not too heavy meal, which is perfect for midnight munchies. Be careful with the hot sauce, it’s extremely spicy!

  1. Señor Pollo

5767 Ebro St.

Top picks: Chicken Sisig (it’s topped with crispy chicken skin), Jalapeño and Cheese Quesadillas, Señor Pollo Roast with patatas bravas and cilantro garlic rice (order extra chimichurri for P40). Beers are also affordable, but you can’t ignore a good margarita on the rocks.

  1. Gabs Good Grub

Doña Epifania cor. Mabini Street

Top picks: Eggs Benedict, Pancake Medley (pancakes with choices of bacon, chicken franks and chicken fillet on the side). They are open 24/7, and serve burgers and Pinoy favorites; bestsellers are: Supreme Salpicao (beef, shrimp and squid) and Seafood Yssabella (mixed seafood in creamy sauce and parmesan cheese).

Top picks: Raki’s BBQ Ribs (For single order of ribs that comes with one side and rice, it will set you back only P230). Bestsellers are Rub Beef, US Hanging Tender drizzled in garlic sauce and served with buttered veggies and toast bread; Grilled Fish topped with spinach and lemon butter sauce; and Rub’s Ultimate Fries—fries, bacon, pulled pork, jalapeños and cheese.

  1. Tambai Yakitori

5779 Felipe St.

Top picks: Quail Egg and Bacon, wash it down with a 50-peso beer and you’re solved! But don’t miss out on the other good stuff like Beef Isaw, Chicken Gizzard, or Laki-tori Sticks (big servings) like Chicken leg and Beef Rib Finger. For those who cannot eat without rice, Tambai also serves Japanese (P50) and Kimchi Rice (P60).

  1. Som’s Noodle House

5921 Algier St.

Top picks: You can never go wrong with Pad Thai and Thai Milk Tea. We also recommend Thai Green Curry (chicken or seafood), Pandan Chicken and Bagoong Rice

  1. Crying Tiger

4986 P. Guanzon St.
