Iris Mittenaere of France was crowned the 65^th Miss Universe on Monday in Manila, beating other heavily favored candidates to win the prestigious beauty title.

Mittenaere participated in prepageant activities throughout the Philippines and hurdled preliminary long gown and swimsuit competitions, interviews, and the national costume show. She succeeded the host country’s Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
