Eighteen of the dreamiest bridal dresses for the modern bride were the highlight of “A Wedding Affair,” a salon show held last week by Bulgari with Solaire Resort and Casinos, to launch Inquirer Lifestyle’s “The Bridal LOOKbook,” and the second edition of Philippine Tatler Weddings.

The bridal wear—which ranged from romantic, classic ball dresses to contemporary serpentine silhouettes, some with coquettish cutout details—was created by some of the country’s most in-demand, as well as up-and-coming designers: Mikee Andrei, JC Buendia, Pablo Cabahug, Noel Crisostomo, Mike de la Rosa, Maureen Disini, Rhett Eala, Jun Escario, Rei Escario, Joel Escober, Michael Leyva, Pablo Mendez, Nat Manilag, Efren Ocampo, Randy Ortiz, Philip Rodriguez, Edwin Tan and Lulu Tan Gan.

“The Bridal LOOKbook” and Philippine Tatler Weddings serve to inspire the stylish Filipino bride, with glossy pages of the trendiest bridal styles, as well as guides to the country’s top wedding suppliers. This is the second time the two publications have come together to unveil their bridal titles, after last June’s event, also with Bulgari.

At the lobby of Solaire’s The Theatre, Italian jeweler Bulgari showcased its bridal jewelry collection, as well as some one-off high jewelry pieces, inspired by Roman celebrations—a lavish display of white gold and diamonds.

Solaire had samples of elegant settings for weddings, from opulent red tables festooned with red roses for a Chinese-style banquet, to a “Midsummer Night’s Dream”-like long table adorned with pink and white flowers and twigs, and tea lights hanging from glass vessels.

Solaire also had a decadent chocolate buffet table—which would drive the sweet-toothed in us to want to gatecrash a wedding—with large blocks and chunks of chocolates surrounding the hotel’s pastry chefs’ vast selection of sinfully luscious pralines, cakes, lollies and bonbons.

Rustan’s had tables set up with Christofle’s selection of fine silver flatware, the fitting gift for elegant weddings.

Overall event designer was Moss Manila.

Hair and makeup was by RMES Salon.
