Everyone who grew bangs at the start of the year may now need solutions to their awkwardly long fringe. Or, for those who chopped their perms recently, here’s some good news: Your ultra-straight hair is “in” again.

Parted bangs

Elle UK called it “The Bardot Fringe,” while Harper’s Bazaar tagged it “Growing-Out Shag.” I consider it a sweet answer to the question, “What will I do with the bangs covering half my face?”

The parted bangs first gained notice when the likes of Taylor Swift and Zooey Deschanel sported them on the red carpet. Slowly, the hair trend built momentum.

It’s the perfect offshoot from the blunt bangs trend of 2016, when virtually everybody and their respective mothers got full fringes, inspired either by runway models or actors in Asian dramas.

Shoulder chops

Growing out that bob? Elevate it to a polished, mid-length cut à la Kendall Jenner’s. This update of the lob (long bob) lends a more mature and graceful aura compared to the perky, youthful bob.

Style it wavy or leave it sleek and shiny—the main or rather mane attraction of the shoulder-length haircut is simplicity. It frames your face just right, minus the hassle. Part it in the center and achieve a vintage look that goes well with your oversized pants and mules.

 

Color melting

A cousin to the still popular balayage, “color melting” is a hair job that “allows colorists to use multiple tones of color to create seamless color from roots to ends, whether you are a brunette or a blonde,” says hair stylist Tyler Colton.

As its name suggests, color melting creates a visual illusion on the hair. The “melting” of varying hues gives off the impression that the colors are naturally occurring on the mane. It looks uneven in a chic manner, giving the mane a natural yet healthy look.

Hair accessories

In case your hair needs a pick-me-up, all you have to do is grab a fancy pin, clip or hairband to make it interesting.

Accessorize your mane with a complementary piece that not only takes the attention away from your misbehaving hair but also garners enough praises for the accessory’s fine detail.
