Liza Soberano, the new Darna: A throwback | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Back in 2013, we saw a fresh face dipping her toes in the not-so-mild waters of show business. Now she’s off to take on the world with a blossoming career.

Angel Locsin has passed the crown to 19-year-old Liza Soberano who will portray the iconic Filipino heroine, Darna, in Erik Matti’s upcoming film adaptation.

The shy and soft-spoken Liza, only 15 when we did the shoot, charmed us with her dazzling beauty—those soft eyes and lovely, sweet smile. Notable for playing light, sweetheart roles in Filipino romcoms and teleseryes such as “Forevermore,” “Everyday I Love You” and “Dolce Amore,” the young actress continues to surpass the expectations of the Filipino audience, offering more than her darling looks.

Aside from juggling her roles as an actress and model, Liza owns and manages Bellissima, a nail spa in Timog, Quezon City. She is also taping an upcoming teleserye, “Bagani,” with her leading man, Enrique Gil.

Seeing that stunning and pretty face, we already knew back then that she would go places. It’s no surprise that donning the red and gold would be a perfect fit for her.
