OMF author receives Gawad Balagtas

Hiyas author Luis Gatmaitan has another feather added to his cap. Children’s book writer, Palanca Awards hall of famer and physician, Gatmaitan is also now Pambansang Alagad ni Balagtas. The Unyon ng Manunulat sa Pilipinas or the Writers’ Union of the Philippines recently awarded Gatmaitan the Gawad Pambansang Alagad ni Balagtas for writing children’s fiction in Filipino.

Gatmaitan, a licensed pediatrician, has written more than 50 books for children and other nonfiction titles. In 2005, he was recognized with a Ten Outstanding Young Men award for his contribution to Philippine literature.


Gatmaitan’s books are available at OMFLit Bookshops, Passages Bookshops, National Book Store, Philippine Christian Book Stores and other leading bookstores nationwide.
