Filipino-American artists Jon Pettyjohn and Hadrian Mendoza, foremost ceramic artists, will hold starting Aug. 12 a joint exhibit titled “To Another Dimension” at Gallery Indigo at BenCab Museum in Tuba, Metro Baguio.

The two started their careers two decades apart—Pettyjohn in Barcelona in the ’70s, and Mendoza in Washington, DC, and Virginia in the ’90s. They met in Manila in 1997.

For a time, Mendoza apprenticed under Pettyjohn. Now they are “brother potters,” with unique visions and approaches to their craft.

“In this exhibit we have challenged ourselves to see in new ways,” Pettyjohn said. “We tried to go beyond the usual, to the place where not all vessels have holes on top. Above all, we just tried to have fun.”

Mendoza added, “In this show, we exhibit works that play with modern and classic approaches, each inspired by the other.”

BenCab Museum is at Km. 6 Asin Road, Tuba, Metro Baguio. It is open Tuesday-Sunday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Call (074) 4427165, 0920-5301954; visit www.bencabmuseum.org.
