When Eatigo invites you to spend an entire day eating, you say yes.

Eatigo, launched in the Philippines last July, makes hopping from restaurant to restaurant even more appetizing by offering discounts all day long if you use their app to make a reservation. “Discounts every day up to 50 percent. My friends and family, they’re like, ‘Oh my god, the value for money is just beyond this world,’” said Gela Go, country marketing head for Eatigo Philippines.

Many Filipinos have already discovered the joys of Eatigo. “The target we had initially, we’ve exceeded that at this point,” said Gela.

Eatigo began with 100 restaurants on their roster. “Now we’re already at over 250 restaurants. It keeps growing. We have a very gastronomically adventurous team and they try restaurants and ask, ‘Is this something our customers would like?’ One thing our CEO always says is  we can’t and we won’t be able to push for restaurants that people don’t like. These are good restaurants that we sign up on Eatigo and we just sweeten the deal for everybody who wants to go there,” said Gela.

Peperoni Pizzeria

At Peperoni Pizzeria (yes, one N) in Uptown Mall in Bonifacio Global City, we booked an 11 a.m. lunch and got 30-percent off our meal. Peperoni, which began as a charming pizza place in Singapore, serves your favorite Italian fare. We ordered everything they suggested—Calamari Fritti (deep fried squid rings with lemon mayo and arrabbiata sauce), Caprese (mozzarella di bufala, tomato slices, basil and olives), Aglio Olio e Peperoncino (sliced garlic and red chili in olive oil), Funghi e Tartufo (sautéed shiitake and button mushrooms in truffle cream sauce), Carbonara (sautéed bacon in light cream sauce) and they were all delicious.  Of course we couldn’t go to Peperoni Pizzeria without ordering their wood-fired pizza. We got the 21-inch XXL pizza in half Prosciutto Crudo di Parma (parma ham and rocket salad) and half Bacon Miele (bacon, honey, fresh oregano and gouda cheese), which is perfect for sharing. The toppings were generous, the crust thin and crisp. It was a big hit.

Gelatofix

I was alone when I headed to Gelatofix (BGC Corporate Center, 30th St., Taguig) for dessert, also for 30-percent off.

Gelatofix also serves meals—soups, salads, sandwiches, all-day breakfast plates, risotto, pasta and more—but I was there for sweets.

They offer gelato in different flavors and forms including Gelato Sushi, Gelato Biscuits, Gelato Sticks and Gelato Cakes.

I tried a couple of the Gelato Sushi but the waitress told me that their Magic Boxx is a must-try. “Pero malaki po siya, ma’am,” she told me.

Ha. Never underestimate my appetite.

She helped me choose between the Toast Pistacchio-Lato and Toast Mango-Lato, finally picking Toast Pistacchio-Lato. It was a great choice.

The Magic Boxx arrived piled high with buttery toast squares drizzled with pistachio sauce and a bowl of gelato and fruits on the side. The waitress lifted the box to reveal a delightful surprise inside: a pool of Knam chocolate.

I dipped a piece of toast in the chocolate and ate it with a spoonful of gelato.

It really was magical. So magical I couldn’t wait to go back to Gelatofix and order the other Magic Boxx flavors especially the Toast Marshmallow-Lato.

Kabisera

For our 7 p.m. appointment in Kabisera, because it was a peak hour, the discount was just 10 percent. But if you’re not happy with just 10-percent off, you can always choose a different schedule. Gela said, “The discount is from 10 to 50 percent all day. I think people, if you give them a little bit of incentive to move it even if it’s just 30 minutes before your usual meal time, then you get the best deals.”

And there are other ways to get great deals from Eatigo. “If you have a friend who still isn’t familiar with Eatigo, just give your referral link and you and your friend both get a hundred points which you can trade for Coffee Bean or Auntie Anne’s… your 100 points is equivalent to a P150 e-voucher.”

More next week.
