Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez (center) and wife Janet and Solaire’s president and chief operating officer Thomas Arasi lead the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony.

It’s a white Christmas at Solaire Resort and Casino with its dazzling Christmas twig trees swathed in sparkling crystals on display at the hotel’s main lobby.

Each white tree, shimmering with crystals of various shapes and forms, stands amid a pile of artificial snow and big bold poinsettias.

“It’s magical holidays for Solaire,” said Gianpietro Iseppi, vice president for hotel operations. “As you can see, we are not exactly a traditional property. We don’t have traditional Christmas trees.”

Still, there’s such a dramatic effect from the lighted holiday twigs that complement the hotel’s ornate interiors.

“Our marketing team really wanted to do something that will draw the attention of our guests,” said Iseppi. “It has a very distinctive feel when it’s lit up. And, when you take picture near them, the lighting gives off a certain festive look.”

These trees were officially lit in a simple ceremony attended by Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez and wife Janet, and Solaire president and chief operating officer Thomas Arasi.

Classic tunes

Guests were serenaded with classic Christmas tunes performed by singer and theater artist Christian Bautista, Asia’s Queen of Song Pilita Corrales, and the Ambassadors for Christ Chamber.

Solaire’s festivities will run till December with more live shows, including Jo Koy on Nov. 30 and Dec. 3; “Tatak Rico J: A Tribute to 40 years of the Total Entertainer,” Dec. 2; “Martin Nievera @ 35,” Dec. 8; and the Philharmonic Orchestra plays the music of José Mari Chan, Dec. 16.

On New Year’s Eve, Oasis Garden Café presents Sheila Valderrama, Tanya Manalang, Arman Ferrer, Loy Martinez and The CompanY. Eclipse Entertainment Bar features Aicelle Santos, Rita Daniela, Floyd Tena and Jimmy Marquez.

Every weekend, chorale groups will perform holiday songs at the main lobby.

To add to the holiday cheer, guests can view the huge gingerbread house at The Patisserie prepared by the hotel chefs and their team. The confectionery showpiece is made of hundreds of pounds of gingerbread, royal icing and candy in a magical depiction of the season.

An array of Christmas goodies, gingerbread cookies, pralines and mouth-watering pastries are available throughout the holidays.

“We made our gingerbread house like a scene from a forest,” said Iseppi. “There are more trees and shrubs, and it’s white. It really feels like a white Christmas.”
