Add a taste of home to your next Christmas feast | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

With the convenience of home delivery, takeout, and catering, preparing for the Christmas dinner has become a lot easier. But it can’t be denied that enjoying a home-cooked holiday spread on an occasion as intimate as Christmas is something to look forward to. It refreshes not just the palate, but also the mind, after spending days indulging on quick meals.

The taste of a home-cooked meal, whether it be something as simple as tinola, or something more festive like pata or spaghetti, recalls images of happy days and hearty gatherings. So this Christmas, take the preparations low and slow, and take inspiration from the flavors of home that filled our noche buena tables in our childhood.

Pinoy Style Spaghetti

Spaghetti is an easy favorite especially for kids. The sweet-tangy sauce mixed with hotdog pieces and meat make this a spaghetti dish that is uniquely Pinoy. So much that it’s also an icon of Pinoy celebrations. It recalls images of so many parties—birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and holidays. Name it, and our sweet spaghetti has most likely been there. Mix the sauce with ground meat enhanced with Knorr Pork Cubes for a balanced sweet and meaty flavor, and make your Pinoy spaghetti even more Christmassy by topping it with grated keso de bola.

Slow Cooked Beef Caldereta

There’s nothing more comforting than mom’s cooking, especially when you know and taste how much time and love has gone into the dish. For beef that’s not only flavorful, cook seasoned and seared beef in a slow cooker. Add a Knorr Beef Cube with the sauce—this gives it a meatier flavor, making it good to eat with rice and even on its own.

Citrusy Chicken Barbecue

You can’t forget the chicken at any party. But instead of going for the typical (and sometimes, too dry) fried chicken, go for a homier, more Filipino version: the chicken barbecue. To make this grilled chicken tastier, add a Knorr Chicken Cube to the marinade. Don’t forget to leave some extra marinade though—you can also use it to make sauce.

Fried Lumpia with Christmas ham

Two Christmas dishes in one? It’s possible. Lumpiang shanghai is always a great inclusion to the table because it’s quick to cook and easy to eat. (So easy, it’s also tempting to sneak a few bites of it before dinner actually starts.) Put a new spin to the classic lumpiang shanghai with the addition of Christmas ham bits made meatier by adding Knorr Pork Cubes. Not only will it add a special twist to your lumpiang shanghai, it’s also an easy way to make sure you won’t have any leftover ham after noche buena.

Beef Morcon

The Morcon is one of the signature dishes of Pampanga, and is also considered nowadays as one of the musts on the noche buena table. This meat roll is basically slices of seasoned beef stuffed with eggs, hotdogs or franks, pickles, and carrots, and tied into a roll. To get the most flavor on both the meat and the sauce, create a marinade using calamansi juice and Knorr Liquid Seasoning.
