Do we exist in parallel universes? | Lifestyle.INQ

What fascinates me about the wonderfully weird world of quantum mechanics (or quantum psychics) is how the behavior of subatomic particles of matter is able to explain certain psychic phenomena, which can’t be explained by mainstream Western science.

For example, a subatomic particle can disappear from one orbit and simultaneously appear in another orbit. This is what happens in teleportation.

A subatomic particle can influence the action of another particle over long distances with no connection between them, through what quantum physicists refer to as “quantum entanglement,” or what Einstein calls “spooky action at a distance.”

This is what happens in psychokinesis or telekinesis. A person can influence or affect an object at a distance. A sub-atomic particle can be in more than one place at the same time. This explains bilocation (i.e. a person appearing in two different places at the same).

And now comes the theory of parallel universes. A “parallel universe” is a hypothetical self-contained reality coexisting with one’s own. A specific group of parallel universes is called a “multiverse.”

Infinite number

The theory states that there could be an indefinite number of universes existing at the same time. And these universes are still expanding and even multiplying.

Man used to think that the earth is the center of the universe. Now we know we are not unique. There could be billions or trillions of planets similar to earth beyond our galaxy. Each universe far, far away could have different laws of physics.

Allan Guth at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology formulated “cosmic inflation” to explain several questions in the cosmology of our universe.

“According to the model of cosmic inflation, the decay of the false vacuum triggered the Big Bang in one part of expanding space. Because not all of expanding space decays at the same time, those varying rates of decay provide the special key that enables multiple universes to be generated without end.”

The concept of multiple universes (not just parallel universes) is not incompatible with Eastern mystical beliefs. According to some Eastern masters, time is not linear. There’s no past, present or future, but everything happens all at the same time in different dimensions.

In other words, I am not unique, because I may exist in other universes or dimensions at the same earth time. And each universe may be obeying different physical laws from our own earth laws.

I know this may sound ridiculous or outrageous at first, but this concept is backed by solid scientific data that are too complicated for ordinary mortals like us to understand.

What the many worlds theory suggests is that we exist in different universes or dimensions at the same time. I may be writing this article on earth, but at the same time, I may be watching a movie or shopping in a mall in another universe or dimension.

Out-of-body experience

Could this be what Jesus Christ meant when he said, “In my father’s house are many mansions, and I go to prepare a place for you?”

What I know and have experienced is this: I have gone out of my physical body through a process called astral projection or out-of-body-experience (OOBE) many times. In such a state, my physical body is in this earthly third dimension, but my astral body is somewhere else, called the astral plane or fourth dimension.

The astral plane can be likened to a parallel universe. A person can exist in both planes or universes at the same time.

Or take another example, which was witnessed by other people. A mobile phone lying on top of a desk in my office suddenly disappears and then appears a few meters away from the table under the chair of my secretary. The mobile phone could not have fallen down. If it did, it would have fallen right under the table to the floor, not several meters away from it.

Question: While the mobile phone was not where it was physically, where was it? In another dimension? In a parallel universe? According to Eastern esoteric belief, there are seven planes or dimensions of reality and each plane in turn has seven subplanes.

This sounds very much like the quantum physicists’ theory of the multiverse, doesn’t it?
