Sleep is a luxury I wish I could buy. Truly, nothing can be more rewarding than a luxurious and comfortable slumber after a long and tedious day. That’s why I look for a superior mattress that will give me the comfort and support I need to sleep well.

I was elated to discover Uratex Premium recently at a slumber party to celebrate World Sleep Month. Uratex Premium showed off its top-of-the-line Touch Collection of mattresses designed with the latest sleep-science innovation and fabric technology for an elegant, comfortable feel.

Natividad “Naty” Cheng, Uratex CEO and president and Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awardee for the Philippines, told Kaye Tiñga, my partner for the Red Charity Gala, and the other slumber party guests about the four different mattresses of the Touch Collection.

Premium Touch Sublime, Premium Touch Cozy Latex, Premium Touch Viscoluxe and Premium Touch Romance give four different firmness and softness levels that allow users to get exactly what they need for sound, undisturbed sleep. The Touch Collection is made with advanced Smart Reflex pocket springs that cleverly adjust to the body’s every move.

Naty was accompanied by her daughters Pinky Rosagas, who is Uratex’s finance director, and Peachy Medina, who is the company’s managing director. Also present were Uratex EVP Eddie Gallor, corporate sales director Dindo Medina, and marketing director Cherry Tan.

Slumber party guests also got to check out the Senso Memory Collection, part of Uratex’s Premium Mattresses. The Senso Memory is known for its plush comfort and cooling quality, perfect for sleepers looking for deep relaxation and relief from warmer temperatures. Each model differs in terms of firmness and softness , as well as the cooling technologies used.

I was also intrigued by the Orthocare Collection, which offers orthopedic patients four different therapeutic solutions. These mattresses are especially designed with open cell layers to regulate moisture and let air flow freely.

Kaye told me how surprised she was that Uratex also carries a range of pillows. The Soft Escape Pillow is made of a special high-density foam, while the Senso Memory Ultima Plus Pillow foam uses Hydragel beads with a Cooler knit fabric cover for a refreshingly cool and comfortable sleep.
Restoring balance

Also in the pillow line is the plush molded Orthocare Biorytmic Pillow, specially crafted to help restore balance, vitality, and concentration through the use of special minerals found in nature.

At the slumber party, lucky friends Mia Borromeo, Ana de Ocampo, Tessa Alindogan, Ann Ong and Ces Drilon won Uratex Premium pillows, and Fe Rodriguez won the grand prize of a Uratex Premium mattress. Everyone happily went home with Uratex pillow giveaways.

The Red Charity Gala and Uratex have partnered together, and co-chair Kaye and I are very grateful for their support. Our featured designer for this year, Rajo Laurel, was also at the slumber party and told me he is a Uratex user, too.

Uratex is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary. In celebration of this golden milestone, the company is giving back to the community with Uratex Foundation’s Project 50, which will share 50 mattresses in 50 combined public hospitals and nursing homes nationwide.

Unique dining experience

I’m sure Instagram users have been seeing a recent flood of posts showing diners eating from a table suspended high above the Solaire Resort and Casino in Parañaque City. For those who haven’t, the latest foodie adventure in our city is Dinner in the Sky (DITS), a novelty concept first developed by a Belgium-based company, MMI Live, back in 2006.

The concept seems simple enough: First, get Solaire’s best chefs and combine their expertise with chef Kenneth Cacho and Michelin chef Yves Mattagne of Sea Grill in Brussels to create a sumptuous, four-course dinner. Next, get a crane to hoist diners, table, chef and wait staff up 150 feet above ground, with a stunning view of Manila Bay.

The result is a truly unique dining experience, which has earned for itself a spot on Forbes Magazine’s list of the world’s Top 10 Most Unusual Restaurants.

Dinner in the Sky is co-organized by DITS Asia. Arvin Randahwa, CEO of DITS Asia, noted that we are the third country in Southeast Asia hosting the airborne adventure. Partnering with Solaire was a fantastic choice, as the integrated resort is celebrating its fifth anniversary. Lorenzo Manalang, VP for brand and marketing of Solaire, noted that DITS is a bold testament to Solaire’s commitment to give its guests memorable experiences that no other property in the country has done.

Culinary adventures

Rhiza Pascua, CEO of MMI Live, noted that our country has become a destination for culinary adventures and one-of-a-kind experiences, which is truly what Dinner in the Sky is. Over 5,000 events have been organized in more than 45 cities around the world, including the Las Vegas Strip, the gardens of the King David Hotel, the Marina of Dubai, the hills of the Villa Borghese, the banks of the St. Lawrence River, the Copacabana beach, Cape Town Bay, and the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur.

I was also gratified to know more about the safety measures around Dinner in the Sky, as I was fastening my safety belts when I tried out the experience last week. We may all have stopped listening to the flight attendants on airlines, but I was listening intently to the safety supervisor during his briefing before liftoff.

Of course, my key question to him was how to get to the CR from up there!

I also noted that the crew was connected to safety harnesses at all times. The crane, platform and machinery were designed along German guidelines on flying structures and are regularly checked and maintained. All procedures have been approved by TUV SUD, the German safety organization.
