3 nights of jazz
The 2018 Philippine International Jazz Festival (PIJazzfest) unfolds for three nights at three venues:
April 27, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at Peninsula Manila’s Salon de Ning, featuring American jazz and soul singer Coco Rouzier performing tracks from her original album “At the Fringe,” with the Henry Katindig Trio.
April 28, 6:30-8:30 pm, also at Salon de Ning, starring Amir Gwirtzman from Tel Aviv, Israel, known for his mastery of reed and woodwind instruments from around the globe. He will be playing selections from his hit “Inhale – Exhale” and “Inhale – Exhale II” albums that use saxophones, clarinets, flutes, horns, pipes and various reeds and woodwind instruments of indigenous people.
Also performing is the Davao-based female vocal trio Zhalia, which took the top prize at the 2015 World Championship of Performing Arts competition in Long Beach, California. The group won the gold medal in the five vocal categories of R&B, Open, Variety, Pop and Gospel divisions.
“The Peninsula has always prided itself as an advocate of the arts in all its forms, from musical to visual, be they local talent or international artists,” said Peninsula Manila general manager Mark J. Choon. “So we are extremely proud and excited to partner with PIJazzfest and provide these artists with a special place like Salon de Ning for them to perform in. This is in keeping with The Peninsula Hotels’ philosophy of raising awareness and appreciation for the arts, heritage and tradition.”
