Rather, Risa de Sagun?s blogshop Bend & Snap (http://bendsnap.blogspot.com), named after the popular catchphrase, offers a treasure trove of pretty, girly and stylish accessories.
With a penchant for D.I.Y. and a love of fashion, it?s no surprise that Risa, on her last semester at the University of the Philippines, started experimenting with découpage and creating pieces out of fun fabric. After creating pieces for herself and wearing them around, she received a lot of comments and praise.
With encouragement from her friends, she decided to sell them. What started out as a hobby eventually became a fun, money-making endeavor.
Risa describes her creations as inspired by high-end designers, street styles and vintage-retro designs. They aim to please the everyday fashionista who wants one-of-a-kind handmade accessories.
True to its crafty, carefree and bohemian spirit, the shop offers a lot of down-to-earth chunky bangles, hair accessories, scarves and body jewelry.
Armed with her trusty glue gun and handy scissors, Risa personally creates offbeat pieces. Bend & Snap is currently brimming with a lot of made-to-order chain trimmings, frou-frou headbands and tea party-ready hair clips. A definite favorite are the chain and feathered epaulettes, which are military in feel but with a Victorian touch.
Making accessories isn?t the last stop for this stylish maven. In fact, she has a few more things up her sleeve. Sometime within the month, Bend & Snap will be a launching a clothing line that stays true to the brand?s personality?fun, feminine and flirty.
Definitely, a breath of fresh air from the fierce and edgy aesthetic the dominates the blogosphere. Or, as Risa describes it, ?The Betty in a Veronica-dominated world.?
