Many intriguing and thought-provoking statements that Jesus was reported to have said have intrigued me.

Foremost of these is his statement that his words have two meanings: an outward meaning and a hidden one.

This is how Matthew put it in his gospel: “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given… The reason I speak to them in parables is that seeing they do not perceive and hearing they do not listen, nor do they understand.” (Matthew 13: 10-13).

If Christ’s words have a double meaning, why is it that the Christian church officials never explain these two meanings? How do these priests and apologists know that their interpretation is the only correct one? Did Jesus Christ whisper in their ears the correct meaning of his words?

According to mathematician and mystic P.D. Ouspensky, in his classic book, “A New Model of the Universe,” the Christian gospel cannot be understood, no matter how intelligent a person is, unless he has the key to its understanding. And that key, he said, is esoteric knowledge.

Just to give you an example, let’s take a look at the Lord’s Prayer. According to conventional interpretation, Christ taught us how to ask God for our daily sustenance and to forgive our enemies.

Life force

But according to the American psychic and prophet Edgar Cayce, the Lord’s Prayer is really a formula given by Christ to open up our spiritual centers, known in the East as chakras or vortices of the life force or prana.

Each phrase or sentence of the Lord’s Prayer refers to a particular chakra. Once these chakra are “opened,” then we will truly enter the “kingdom of heaven,” which, according to Jesus Christ, is within each of us.

Cayce’s interpretation of the Lord’s Prayer is given below, line by line. Considering that Jesus Christ was a master of esoteric sciences, which He studied during His so-called “lost years,” it is not unlikely that the Lord’s Prayer should contain a hidden meaning understandable only to His disciples.

“Our Father which art in heaven”—The Father refers to the pituitary gland. The pituitary is the spiritual or psychic center from which the “father within” emanates.

“Hallowed be Thy Name”—The Name resides in the pineal gland, sometimes known as the “third eye.” This refers to the power of the Christ Spirit within man, the name which is above every other name, and emanates from the pineal gland.

“Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”—The will stimulates the thyroid gland. Not until God’s will becomes our will, until we recognize the cosmic law which says “as above so below,” will God’s kingdom come for us.

“Give us this day our daily bread”—Bread is strength and refers to the gonads or the sexual region of the man’s body. The gonads are the center of the life-giving force, according to Cayce.

“And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors”—This refers to the solar plexus, the seat of the balancing forces in man as indicated in the phrase “forgiveness of sins.” It refers to universal justice, karma. This portion of the prayer reminds us to maintain our cool at all times.

“Lead us not into temptation”—Temptation here refers to the lyden gland, which could not be exactly positioned, because the term “lyden” is not found in any textbook of human anatomy or physiology. Most likely it refers to the adrenal glands.

“Lyden,” according to Cayce, “is the seat of the soul. Lyden means ‘open door.’ While the soul fills the whole body, the soul force emanates from the lyden. The soul is as the prodigal son, who has wandered far from him, even into the bowels of the earth.”

Seat of divine love

“Deliver us from evil”—Evil refers to the thymus gland, the area surrounding the heart. The heart is the seat of divine love. What is asked here is protection from evil.

“For Thine is the Kingdom”—This again, refers to the thyroid gland. It refers to the will of God the Father, to which we must all attune our wills.

“And the Power”—This again refers to the pineal gland, the name that is all powerful and above, which there is no other.

“And the Glory Forever”—This completes the cycle back to the pituitary gland, from where the prayer began. The glory refers to the Father in heaven, the reality of God within man.

In that very short prayer, Jesus Christ has given us the most powerful, useful and complete technique of stimulating our higher selves. Cayce, as well as other writers and serious scholars, has shown that Jesus Christ was indeed a very practical, down-to-earth teacher. He knew what man needed to know for his soul to survive.

Of course, I don’t expect this interpretation to be accepted by the average Christian, who may consider this interpretation blasphemous.

But God, in his infinite and compassionate wisdom, saw to it that these sacred and authentic teachings of Jesus should be revealed in due time.

In the Gnostic Gospel discovered in the Nag Hammadi Cave in Upper Egypt in 1945, these hidden meanings are more clearly revealed. I consider these lost Gnostic Gospels more authentic and authoritative, because they were not censored by the Church.

The Gnostic Christians, from the very beginning, considered the teachings of the emerging orthodox Christian Church to be the ones heretical, because they did not conform to the revealed teachings of Christ, especially after his resurrection—secret teachings which were revealed to few of his disciples.
