Reader scared of her psychic gifts | Lifestyle.INQ

A reader, Carmen, asked for an explanation about her strange experience in a Baguio shop that sells semiprecious beads, quartz crystals and artifacts from Nepal.

Here’s her story:

“Over a year ago, I had an experience that I can’t find any explanation for, nor fully understand. Perhaps you can help me out.

“My female in-laws, several nieces, cousin-in-law and I decided to visit one of our favorite shops in Baguio which sells semiprecious beads, carved agate, amber, artifacts from Nepal (including a Nepal monk kapala).

“After I entered the store and while busily looking over the items and exchanging pleasantries with the owner, I started feeling woozy, as if I was being lifted off the ground and was swaying left and right. It seemed as if my energy (or my being) was being drained! I thought I was going to pass out.

“At that point, I mustered all the will I had and ‘fought’ the sensation as hard as I could, saying ‘Jesus, Mary and Joseph’ and praying the Hail Mary and calling Jesus’ name.

“I hurriedly stepped out and pretended to be looking at the display window (so as not to alarm my companions), continuing to call on Jesus.

“Outside the store I slowly regained my ‘self,’ though still a bit dizzy. I went back inside in that state and soon left with the others. By the way, no one noticed anything wrong, nor was I behaving differently. It was as if it was just all in my mind.

“Looking back, I also felt dizzy the first time I went to that store a year and a half before. I charged it to just being tired from the travel and forgot about it, until that most terrifying experience last year. What could have happened to me?”

Sensitive

I replied to Carmen that there’s nothing wrong with her, neither was her experience unusual. She is just sensitive to subtle energies and vibrations. I told her that quartz crystals emit strong energy and can be felt by those who are sensitive to them.

Nepal is a mystical country which has a long tradition of esoteric and mystical practices. A Nepal kapala is a cup “made from a human skull and used as a ritual implement in both Hindu and Buddhist Tantra. They are often carved or elaborately mounted with precious metals and jewels,” according to Wikipedia.

It is elaborately anointed and consecrated before use, that’s why it has very strong energy or vibrations.

“Kapalas are used mainly for esoteric purposes such as rituals. Among these rituals are higher tantric meditation to achieve a transcendental state of thought and mind within the shortest possible time.

That’s why the place affected her strongly. Furthermore, I said, Baguio City itself has many earthbound spirits roaming around, unable to ascend to higher spiritual realms.

I suggested she learn more about these subtle energies and vibrations. It is possible that she also has mediumistic tendencies, that’s why spirits are attracted to her.

Carmen replied that she has been told by several people (including feng shui masters, both local and foreign) that she is “sensitive” with a third eye. But she had refused to accept or believe it, much less to practice it. She’s scared of it, or what it can do.

Well, I have news for Carmen: the more she refuses to accept her psychic and mediumistic gifts, the more they will hound her. To conquer the unknown she must acknowledge, learn and embrace it. There is no other way.
