WIFI feature enables instant upload to social networking sites in a blink.

Snap-happy netizens, rejoice! After being given a taste of things to come at the Samsung SEA Forum in Bangkok last month, we finally get to see the first of the WiFi-enabled Smart Cameras hitting Philippine shores, just in time for summer vacation.

Samsung Electronics Philippines Corporation recently launched its 2012 Digital Imaging product lineup at the Rockwell Tent in Makati. Leading the pack is the new Smart Camera WB150F, which was officially introduced by Ariel Arias, Business Unit Head for the AV group.

Samsung Smart Camera Ambassador Iya Villania hosted the event while radio/TV host Sam YG, fashion blogger Laureen Uy, and YouTube comedienne Ashley Rivera, aka Petra Mahalimuyak, demonstrated the unique features of the WB150F that complement their different lifestyles. Available in jet-black and white models, the WB150F features an impressive 18x optical super zoom, 14.2 megapixel  resolution and three-inch LCD display, all housed in a compact and surprisingly lightweight body. The unique WiFi capability makes it possible to share and save images wherever you may be, which is perfect for people who simply can’t wait to capture that moment and post it for the world to see.

From any WiFi hotspot, users can upload photos right away on social networking sites like Facebook, Picasa and Photobucket, or

e-mail them from the camera without having to transfer them to your PC. You can also take 720/30p HD videos and upload them straight to YouTube.

Aside from Live Panorama, it also has a fun Split Shot feature that lets you divide the screen using the preset layouts and blend the images to create a “collage” of sorts. Meanwhile, the Auto Backup function minimizes the hassle of saving copies to a PC, and the Mobile Link function lets you share your captured moments across gadgets with your friends—just download the Mobile Link app on your Samsung smartphone.

“Sharing photographs taken with friends and family is one of the most enjoyable aspects of a photo experience. It’s more than about simply capturing memories—sharing is an integral part of the experience itself,” shared Arias. “Listening to our customers, we understood that being able to conserve memories by sharing images instantly was what was missing from the high-quality cameras that they trust.

“With this in mind, we added groundbreaking WiFi functions to our zoom camera, building on the brilliant image quality that high-quality sensors and zoom lenses provide, now with the ability to share and save like never before.”

For many of us, a travel zoom camera with WiFi sounds like an answer-prayer to our lifestyle needs. And the best part? This

camera isn’t as pricey as one might think, given all the specs—it retails at only P11,990. Not bad at all. Let’s face it, this is as convenient and close to real-time photo sharing as you can get.
