FLAGSTAFF, Arizona — Victoria’s Secret has apologized for putting a Native American-style headdress on a model for its annual fashion show.

The company responded to criticism over the weekend by saying it was sorry to have upset anyone and that it wouldn’t include the outfit in the show’s television broadcast next month.

Thousands of people commented on the company’s Facebook page after the apology was issued. Some saw the floor-length headdress worn by model Karlie Kloss as art, while others say it displayed ignorance toward Native American cultures and history.

Feather headdresses, or war bonnets, are a symbol of bravery and are worn by Native American leaders in some tribes, including chiefs. Women don’t wear war bonnets.

Kloss has tweeted her own apology.

Paul Frank Industries Inc. and the band “No Doubt” have run into similar criticism and apologized this year for their use of headdresses.

Yung mga dating delagates ng USA sa Miss Universe, pati mga contestants sa Miss USA, gumagamit ng Indian Headress, pero walang reklamo mga tao.

But she looks gorgeous with it. Everyone can see, it is not used to what it has been intended but for some kind of art.

  • ah_ok_fine12

yan ang maganda – walang pride. if kailangan mag-apologized , then they apologized.
respect for individual. tapos ang kwento.

It seems like almost everyone has become sensitive or balat sibuyas now a days. I don’t see any wrong in using the Native American  Indian headdress as a fashion accesory. It definitely makes a statement that ethnicity is beautiful.

“It definitely makes a statement that ethnicity is beautiful. ”
      ________

but then we should ask ourselves: sa ganyang katawan at mukha lang ba nakikita ang totoong kagandahan ng isang tao?

I do agree though na mrami ng nagiging balat sibuyas ngayon.

      • TGM_ERICK

It is, but i am referring to the headdress. I don’t even consider the wearer in that statement. Beauty comes in different sizes, colors and shapes. But what shines most is the inner glow that radiates from the heart. Bawat nilalang ay may katapat. Ang maganda sa iyo ay di maganda sa kanya dahil hindi lamang panlabas ang dapat tingnan. In other words beauty is in the eyes of the beholder who could see the x-factor which is often times related to how one behaves in a given situaton.
