PORTRAITS OF MUSICIANS, ARTISTS and performers make up MAPS, an exhibit by Mhel Cabriana, Abby Yao and Pro Gelladuga, opening at Galerie Joaquin (371 P. Guevarra Street and Montessori Lane, Addition Hills, San Juan, Metro Manila, 7239253, 7239418), on Nov. 20, 7 p.m.
MAPS features oil paintings by the young artists, who collectively display their fixation with tonality and figure while retaining their individual visions. The subjects they tackle are not far removed from their own lives: Humble street musicians for whom the instrument is an extension of the self; visual artists working with different media; and performers in a timeline highlighting the process of a live stage show.
All three artists are students of social realist master Renato Habulan, who curates the exhibit.
