Glamorous waves, sleek side parts, high buns and poufy ’dos
A FRESH CROP OF hairstyles freshen this season’s look, with a range of glamorous waves, sleek side parts, high buns and poofy ’dos. Know how to get the look, and translate it from runway to real life.

Textured waves

Soft, face-framing curls can look romantic or edgy-cool, depending on the texture and finish of your hair.

Tools you’ll need: An anti-frizz curl-defining mousse and a large barrel curling iron

How to do it: After applying mousse to wet towed-dried hair, wrap two-inch wide sections of hair on the curling iron. But instead of making a tight coil from tips to roots, loosely curl until its center length only to give hair body and volume. Then, flip head upside down and shake curls with fingers before flipping back up. Doing this breaks curls and results in soft, natural-looking waves.

High bun

An easy solution to bad hair days, a sleek high bun looks clean and polished.

Tools you’ll need: Strong-hold gel, fine-toothed comb, bobby pins and an elastic band

How to do it: Work in a substantial amount of gel into hair and pull into a high ponytail. Comb out any stray hairs and tie with an elastic band. Then, pull the end of the ponytail towards forehead and begin twisting it inwards until it forms a bun. Or twist the ponytail and wrap it around itself to also form a bun. Secure hair with bobby pins.

Sleek side part

The simplest way to update your hairstyle, an extreme side part looks modern and androgynous.

Tools you’ll need: Shine-enhancing medium hold hair spray, rattail comb and elastic band

How to do it: Using tip of rattail comb, part hair just above eyebrow arch and tie hair into a low ponytail or bun. Then mist hair with hair spray to set in place. To smoothen out small hairs, spritz comb with hair spray and run it through hair.

Bouffant hair

Reach new heights by channeling the ’80s. Think big hair with lots of volume.

Tools you’ll need: Volumizing spray, rattail comb, bobby pins and strong hold hairspray

How to do it: While hair is damp, twist the lower half of hair into a bun, leaving out top and side layers. Spray untied area with volumizer and section hair, curling its top and middle layers (leave front and side layers around face uncurled). Then, gently backcomb curls with a rattail comb to give it volume and height. Once this is achieved, comb front layers to cover the teased area and secure with bobby pins. Set with hairspray.
