THE WEDDING OF THE YEAR WAS even more than everyone expected it to be. It was a wedding made for a princess and her dashing prince.
The solemnity, elegance of décor at Sto. Domingo Church and soothing voices of the choir mesmerized the invitees. More so, when the absolutely radiant, gorgeous bride, ABS-CBN?s unmatchable TV commentator Korina Sanchez walked down the aisle to be with her prince charming, vice presidential aspirant Mar Araneta Roxas.
Korina?s much-talked about wedding gown with a long embroidered veil was created by the genius of fashion, Pepito Albert, no less, palanggas.
True love was felt by everyone at the wedding ceremony.
The church courtyard was the venue for the after-wedding reception while the grand finale was held at the Aranetas? Bahay na Puti in Cubao, where a dinner reception was held for the entire wedding entourage, families of both sides and super friends of Korina and Mar.
Here, it was time to let loose and have an awesome fun. A super relaxed way to celebrate the couple?s love story after almost half a day of tension and exhaustion.
No wonder after the yummy, well-prepared dinner, which consisted of eight choices, including the popular lechon from Cebu, I went back for three (yes, three) more servings of callos, which I thought was the recipe of Tia Ester Araneta), mother of Judy, Baby and George ?Nene,? who has some of the best recipes you can imagine, palanggas.
I just had to thank Margarita Fores, who prepared the menu for the night. Well, it turned out the callos were not from Tia Esther?s old recipe. They were from Korina?s mother, Celia Baluyut Sanchez. Wow! Now, Korina knows what to send me this Christmas?her mom?s to-die-for callos, dahlings.
As we entered the Bahay na Puti, the couple greeted the invitees at the reception line. When it was my turn, I said, ?How?s the blushing bride? And she wittingly answered, ?You mean the blush-on bride.? We both laughed and I wished her loads of happiness to come.
Reception happenings
At the reception, presidential aspirant Noynoy Aquino went table-hopping since everyone wanted a photo with him.
There was more chatting, a short interview with the couple by TV?s favorite dahling, Kris Aquino, no less, and dancing. Everyone hit the dance floor until most of them dropped.
At one moment I sat at the sofa watching the guests dancing. Mar sat beside me, exhausted. He opened some buttons of his barong (superbly done by Randy Ortiz) while relaxing. I told him in Ilonggo, ?Are you glad it?s over?? and he answered ?Yes! But believe me, it?s worth every minute of it,? while looking with admiration and love at his princess, who was rocking the floor with her brother at that moment.
By 2 a.m., the lovebirds headed to their love nest.
Yes, palanggas, love was definitely in the air for our princess and her prince charming.
