Her wardrobe should take her to all her kids? needs and activities -from breastfeeding to tennis lessons
THERE IS MORE TO CHRISTINE Jacob-Sandejas than her head-turning looks.
At age 5, she was already in swimming competitions. Her skill and speed propelled her to international meets by the time she was 11. Christine reigned in swimming, setting a Philippine record at 13.
At the height of her swimming career, she held six records in the Southeast Asian games in Manila, Singapore, Thailand, India and Korea. At 16, she was a member of the team that competed in the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984.
Her feat was the result of practice, practice and more practice. She gives her parents credit for her success, as they were always by her side, taking her to her 4:30 a.m. daily practices, posting her goals, and egging her on, that there was no need to be nervous if you were confident of your abilities.
Christine moved to the US for college, enrolling at Kenyon College in Ohio, where she continued to swim. She graduated with a degree in International Studies, with China as her area of concentration. (She speaks and writes pinyin).
Because of her background in sports, she was tapped to cover the sports events in the Olympics in 1988 and 1996. Then she moved on to hosting TV shows.
Typical week
Now that she is married to Paco Sandejas, and with kids, Christine?s typical week starts at 5:45 a.m., when she feeds her 9-month-old boy. She then takes her four other kids to school at 6:45, and continues to train till 10, alternating yoga and tennis.
Her afternoons are full as she takes the kids to tennis, guitar, violin or reading classes. It is important to her that her kids have discipline and a sense of responsibility, so her policy is that they do homework first and that they have to be in bed by 9 p.m.
Aside from her duties as mother and wife, she tapes for ?Full-time Moms? twice a week and does hosting or endorsement jobs.
Comfort is key in her wardrobe choices, since she has a lot of activities with her kids. At this time, her clothes also must make it easy for her to breastfeed. An easy wardrobe consists of a mannish polo with bootleg trousers, or blazer with flirty skirt. She pairs jeans with a soft, layered top to show off her strong shoulders. To complement her otherwise simple and uncomplicated style, she favors big neckpieces.
One can always tell true femininity when a woman sports tailored and mannish cuts and yet exudes poise and grace?like Christine does.
